blindfolds and haircuts

so this past weekend was initiation for the sorority. so i am officailly a sister. yay! i have a class of 19 girls including myself. pretty excited but... after initiation i got pink eye, from a blindfold that was involved so that was kind of a buzz kill. and everyone treated me like i had the plague.

rob also cut his hair yesterday- not usually exciting except this time... he shaved it- cue ball status! it took some getting used to but i like it!

work has been going well... here is the most popular thing we do, brownie pops.
add yourself as my follower so i know who visits me!

time well spent

so i am already slacking on my "post once a week" plan. i recently just started a new job - thank goodness - at a place called amy's apples. she does alot of similar things as the chocolate orchard (where i worked from september to february) but much more complex, delicate and ornate. they sell everything from chocolate covered apples to pretzels and brownie balls. while these sound simple, they are all decorated with beautiful chocolate piping. needless to say im super excited to finally have a paycheck again, but even more excited that im getting paid to do something i really enjoy and i learn something everyday.

i have also been doing alot with my sorority lately. i am now a member of sigma sigma sigma (tri sig) sorority. i will be initiated on sunday and i took my national test a few weeks ago and got a 99! being a part of a family of girls has really helped me grow and come out of my shell slowly but surely. we have recently been rushing new potential members and last night gave bids to 7 new girls, we will now have about 40 members!

i have also started academics since my last post. communications ( public speaking, which i HATE ) leadership ( which is ok and i am learning, but my teacher is VERY biased, he even rolled his eyes at a student the other day because his views were different ) and cost control ( now this is the class i was most excited for, yea right, i have been in the class 3 days now and have just one page of notes! my professor gets so sidetracked i cant really even decide what the class is all about! ) but hopefully things will smooth out and i wont die at the podium in public speaking and i will keep my deans list standing which i have now held for at least 3 trimesters.

this is most of my sorority on big/little night. where all of the existing members got new members as their little sisters.

this is me, my big sister and my "twin" (my big has two littles, making us equals or twins) my sister name is dolce :)

well thats all for now, errands to run then work.

spring break

so for the past week i have been on spring break, last year at this time i was in sunny florida enjoying the fact that it was snowing both in rhode island and new york and i was sitting on the beach or enjoying disney with rob my boyfriend. this year is slightly different, well ok alot. this year i am spending spring break at home, in ny. and yes, unfortunately with the snow.

i have conveniently avoided the snow almost all together by staying indoors reading. against my better judgement i asked my mom to loan me the first twilight book, thinking that when she came to visit in late march i would be finished and i would trade her for the second book of the series of four. well much to my surprise, and the only reason it has taken me so long since my last post, i have finished all four books in the past four days. yepp, i was hooked. i went to see the movie with my mom yesterday, i was not impressed, but the books were amazing. Rob thinks i am absolutely insane, reading more in four days than either of us read through our four years in highschool combine. i simply told him he would not understand unless he read them himself, which of course he wont.

i return to rhode island on sunday with classes starting on tuesday. i will begin my academic trimester. my co-op is unfortunately over. for the past three months i have been working at a cake studio named Sin. i learned how to make and decorate a variety of cakes and have greatly enhanced my portfolio as well as learned so much. i am truly upset to be leaving. so i will also be returning to school job-less. ugh. going from three jobs to zero is less than ideal right now but i hopefully have at least one lead.

so for now i will leave you with some pictures, mostly from Sin, a few of my favorites :)

this is my final project, my beach themed design. to my surprise my cake was featured at both the newport wedding gallery and a wedding show! jen, my boss at Sin has named this cake "the embrace"

this is one of the last cakes i did at Sin, and by far my uncles favorite! the batman figure on top i made of chocolate, kind of like tracing, but with piped chocolate, one of the many skills i learned during my time there.

this cake was done last year, but still one of my favorites, this entire cake is completely edible, including even the contents on top of the purse!

that's all for now :)
