happy mothers day

happy mothers day to all you mommies! hope you all do something special today!
i wish i could be with my mommmy today :( i owe you big time!!
so classes are coming to an end- which is weird because i feel like just last week i was posting about classes starting. So as a few of you know i SHOULD be getting my associates at the end of may, but unfortunatly i will not be- i have one tiny little requirement left- community service - which is kind of bologna that i dont have it- i have done plenty of community service through the sorority and with my chefs, but apparently that doesnt count. so i will be completeing that in the fall (i could do it in the summer but then i would have to pay for the trimester just to do community service) and i will be on my way to food service management. i have signed up for all of my classes i will be taking Accounting, Psychology, English and Food Service Management. i am taking night classes so i can work during the day.
this week was jeremiahs prom. he was so cute! i enjoyed watching him get ready and watching his girlfriend struggle to pin his bouteneer on him without drawing blood. he looked very spiffy as did meg, his girlfreind. and i got to see mommy which i was really looking forward to!
i also helped amanda my roomate with a cupcake party yesterday. her 5th grade teacher has something like 11 sisters. so once a month they all get together and have a "yaya sisterhood" each month a different sister hosts a fun event for all of them so this month her teacher asked us to teach all of them how to decorate cupcakes. we picked 6 designs and demonstrated and helped them each make them.
i also found some pictures from class

and for everyone who didnt know- i have been living off campus this year in an apartment with 3 other roomates. i will be staying here all by myself this summer because all of my roomates are moving out- eek. here are some pix of my room.

april showers better bring lots of may flowers

sorry i have not updated! i have been very busy!

since my last post i have started two school projects and had greek week, had car troubles, and been miserable from the vast amount of rain lately.

april is probably one of the most depressing, but for some reason the busiest months of the year. here in providence it rained ( and snowed a little ) probably 90% of the month up until this weekend. GROSS however this weekend it was sunny and got up to 90 degrees yesterday! i even went to the beach! it was gorgeous.

during the month of rain i have proceeded to get a flat tire ( while it was pouring ) , find out i need all new tires and brakes and gas is going up- having a car is not all i thought it was gonna be!

i have also started a few school projects- one of which i am actually REALLY enjoying. i have to create a bakery from top to bottom. from uniforms and atmosphere to clientel and costing out your menu. well since i already know what i want to open in the future, i am basing my project around my actual vision. it is coming along awesome. i will post some pieces when it is finished. I have also started speeches in communications, while i have gotten over an 80 on all the speeches, i HATE the class! ugh.

Last week was greek week. we had events like greek olympics, talent show and greek banquet. at the greek banquet i was awarded with an acedemic achievement award for being on the deans list!
greek banquet with some of my sistersgreek banquet with my "twin"

mommy also came to providence since my last post. it was so nice to have family around for a weekend! tri sig held a mother/daughter weekend, nothing big just, brunch and some fun activities. and she got to learn about the sorority and put faces to names.
thats all for now, off to enjoy the warm nights while they last!

relay and princess

this previous weekend was hectic to say the least!

this weekend was relay for life and providence princess.

alot of people have asked what i do with my sorority- and alot of people have the wrong idea, thinking that its all about the frat boys and parties. well this weekend was definitely not about that!

relay for life- mostly everyone knows what it is, to raise money for cancer by walking for 12 hours. the event was held in the JWU gym from 6pm friday to 6am saturday. we had 60 teams ( i was on the tri sigma jwu team ), 493 participants ( 30+ were sigmas ), and raised over $32,000! we exceeded all of the goals!

after relay we had another function called providence princess, a community service project with providence teachers union to help high school girls go to their prom despite financial hardship. it was really successful and we outfitted over 170 girls this year!

and after all that i also had work, needless to say i went to bed at 9pm on saturday and slept until about 1pm!
a few of us tried on a dress for shits and giggles ;)
cake i made for initiation ( with ambers help lol )

ok so i am addicted... like unhealthy obsessed status.

i have a problem.

i have, as below stated, read all the twilight books, well i ave been thinking about them nonstop since then. like seriously i sit at work, class, driving... whatever just daydreaming. so i finally broke down and decided i would read the partial draft of the fifth unfinished book

BIG mistake- now its worse. now i am going crazy. if she does not finish that book i will probably need to be admitted.

anyone who has read twilight- i know u understand, if you havent- then what the hell are u waiting for?

blindfolds and haircuts

so this past weekend was initiation for the sorority. so i am officailly a sister. yay! i have a class of 19 girls including myself. pretty excited but... after initiation i got pink eye, from a blindfold that was involved so that was kind of a buzz kill. and everyone treated me like i had the plague.

rob also cut his hair yesterday- not usually exciting except this time... he shaved it- cue ball status! it took some getting used to but i like it!

work has been going well... here is the most popular thing we do, brownie pops.
add yourself as my follower so i know who visits me!

time well spent

so i am already slacking on my "post once a week" plan. i recently just started a new job - thank goodness - at a place called amy's apples. she does alot of similar things as the chocolate orchard (where i worked from september to february) but much more complex, delicate and ornate. they sell everything from chocolate covered apples to pretzels and brownie balls. while these sound simple, they are all decorated with beautiful chocolate piping. needless to say im super excited to finally have a paycheck again, but even more excited that im getting paid to do something i really enjoy and i learn something everyday.

i have also been doing alot with my sorority lately. i am now a member of sigma sigma sigma (tri sig) sorority. i will be initiated on sunday and i took my national test a few weeks ago and got a 99! being a part of a family of girls has really helped me grow and come out of my shell slowly but surely. we have recently been rushing new potential members and last night gave bids to 7 new girls, we will now have about 40 members!

i have also started academics since my last post. communications ( public speaking, which i HATE ) leadership ( which is ok and i am learning, but my teacher is VERY biased, he even rolled his eyes at a student the other day because his views were different ) and cost control ( now this is the class i was most excited for, yea right, i have been in the class 3 days now and have just one page of notes! my professor gets so sidetracked i cant really even decide what the class is all about! ) but hopefully things will smooth out and i wont die at the podium in public speaking and i will keep my deans list standing which i have now held for at least 3 trimesters.

this is most of my sorority on big/little night. where all of the existing members got new members as their little sisters.

this is me, my big sister and my "twin" (my big has two littles, making us equals or twins) my sister name is dolce :)

well thats all for now, errands to run then work.

spring break

so for the past week i have been on spring break, last year at this time i was in sunny florida enjoying the fact that it was snowing both in rhode island and new york and i was sitting on the beach or enjoying disney with rob my boyfriend. this year is slightly different, well ok alot. this year i am spending spring break at home, in ny. and yes, unfortunately with the snow.

i have conveniently avoided the snow almost all together by staying indoors reading. against my better judgement i asked my mom to loan me the first twilight book, thinking that when she came to visit in late march i would be finished and i would trade her for the second book of the series of four. well much to my surprise, and the only reason it has taken me so long since my last post, i have finished all four books in the past four days. yepp, i was hooked. i went to see the movie with my mom yesterday, i was not impressed, but the books were amazing. Rob thinks i am absolutely insane, reading more in four days than either of us read through our four years in highschool combine. i simply told him he would not understand unless he read them himself, which of course he wont.

i return to rhode island on sunday with classes starting on tuesday. i will begin my academic trimester. my co-op is unfortunately over. for the past three months i have been working at a cake studio named Sin. i learned how to make and decorate a variety of cakes and have greatly enhanced my portfolio as well as learned so much. i am truly upset to be leaving. so i will also be returning to school job-less. ugh. going from three jobs to zero is less than ideal right now but i hopefully have at least one lead.

so for now i will leave you with some pictures, mostly from Sin, a few of my favorites :)

this is my final project, my beach themed design. to my surprise my cake was featured at both the newport wedding gallery and a wedding show! jen, my boss at Sin has named this cake "the embrace"

this is one of the last cakes i did at Sin, and by far my uncles favorite! the batman figure on top i made of chocolate, kind of like tracing, but with piped chocolate, one of the many skills i learned during my time there.

this cake was done last year, but still one of my favorites, this entire cake is completely edible, including even the contents on top of the purse!

that's all for now :)
